DO NOT USE RICE UNIVERSITY'S EIN OR NAME FOR YOUR NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION'S FILING
If your student organization is a stand-alone tax-exempt organization (with an IRS approval letter) or a local chapter of a national non-profit organization, you must apply for a separate Employer Identification Number (EIN) specifically for your own student organization or your local chapter. Rice University's EIN and name in no case should be used or included in your organization’s reporting to the IRS or in your local chapter's annual reporting to your national non-profit organization. If your student organization is just a Rice club and deemed as part of the University, then this separate EIN requirement doesn't apply to you, and all your club's activities and tax reporting are included at the University entity level.
