Charitable Contribution Receipt Upload
The university files annual tax returns with the IRS to report its unrelated business taxable income (UBTI). Charity donations made by the university to other charitable organizations can be used to offset Rice's UBTI, however, the university must keep records of a written acknowledgement (gift receipt) from the charity if a donation is $250 or more. The gift receipt should include the following items:
- The amount of cash a Rice department donated and a description of any property contributed.
- A statement of whether the charity provided any goods or services in consideration for Rice's donation; and
- A description and good-faith estimate of the value of any goods or services provided to Rice (e.g. value of dining table/seat in charity event).
Please upload your charitable contribution receipts below or email directly to tax@rice.edu.
This upload process for submitting Charitable Contribution Receipts to the Tax department has been approved by Rice IT Security for the transfer of confidential and sensitive information in accordance with Rice Policy 808 - Protection of University Data and Information.
