Mission
Research and Cost Accounting aspires to be a model organization in the field of post award sponsored projects administration, and to provide exceptional service to the Rice University community. We are charged with promoting an environment that facilitates the University's commitment to its research mission while effectively managing the sponsored projects under its stewardship in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and according to the terms and conditions of the sponsoring agencies.
The primary responsibilities of the Post Award group include setting up awards and projects in the Oracle Finance (iO) system, preparing financial reports and invoices, closing out awards, and monitoring fiscal compliance. The Cost Accounting group's primary responsibilities include the preparation of sponsored project expenditure reports, coordinating audit reviews, managing the service center activities, management of the effort reporting process, and managing the F&A and fringe benefit proposal and negotiation process.
To accomplish our goals, we work collaboratively with the faculty and staff who direct and manage Rice's research projects and other sponsored programs.
